The camera’s flash got caught on their skirt. Transparent material could never be itself— always exposing the environment behind it, or in more sullen moods, splashing back some reflection. A refusal to take on another personality. The material had its own qualities: you could touch its slick, but it was hard to know what it was, what was its own, or if there was even such a thing. What felt like sloshing around in experimentation, could instead be something numerical masking as desire, but always producing the same outcome— the same lips, taste, or response. Perhaps all of the possibilities they saw in face shopping weren’t actually a choice anymore: that very delicate balance in the hope and tragedy of this future in plastics.

The Archive Skirt is made from PVC vinyl layered atop vintage fabric from our archive. The skirt has two side pockets and is fastened with flat horn button closures down the front of the garment. Due to the intricate nature of this garment, these skirts are crafted on a made-to-order basis. Once purchased, we will contact you to present our available fabric options from our vintage archive. Each piece is one-of-a-kind due to the limited availability of fabric. After we confirm the fabric choice and the deposit is received, please allow four weeks for construction and shipping. Please note: All made-to-order garments are final sale.
